Halloween Spotlight

The Halloween Spotlight was a Roblox-wide crossover event featuring dozens of games, with Michael’s Zombies contributing one of the most involved quest lines: the Rune and Key challenge. Players who finish both tiers earn exclusive badges, Emeralds, and bragging rights across the MZ Community. This page breaks down every step so you can finish the quest without relying on outdated universal “safe codes” that do not exist.

Event overview

Halloween Spotlight tied Michael’s Zombies into a platform-wide badge hunt. Two separate tiers must be completed:

Both tiers are independent — you can finish the Rune before starting the Key, or vice versa. Most players clear the Rune first because it teaches Hallows Eve Pack-a-Punch mechanics used nowhere else.

Part 1 — Earn the Rune

Load Hallows Eve

Select Hallows Eve from matchmaking or use set_map HallowsEve on a VIP private server via admin commands. The map uses trick-or-treat perk doors and pumpkin objectives instead of standard power switches.

Unlock Pack-a-Punch

Shoot seven colored pumpkins hidden around the map. Pumpkin locations change slightly between sessions, but they glow and emit audio cues when nearby. After all seven are destroyed, the Pack-a-Punch machine activates — same 4,500 point upgrade cost as other maps.

Upgrade and trade

1. Buy a solid wall weapon — MP5 or Trench Shotgun work well for early rounds.
2. Save 4,500 points and Pack-a-Punch your gun.
3. Return to spawn and locate the mysterious pumpkin merchant on the far-left side of the map.
4. Interact to trade your Pack-a-Punched weapon for the Rune tier completion.

You lose the traded weapon permanently for that run — budget points accordingly. Double Tap and Speed Cola accelerate the early rounds; see the perks tier list for priority order.

Part 2 — Earn the Key

Enter Michael Salvaged

After earning the Rune (or anytime during the event window):

1. Return to the main lobby, not an active match.
2. Click Donate, then select ??? to enter the hidden Michael Salvaged room.
3. Interact with the central safe — it displays empty slots for five digits.
4. Pick up the UV Light attachment on the nearby table.
5. Equip the UV Light on a pistol or SMG through weapon customization.

The UV attachment is quest-specific for Spotlight — it reveals hidden symbols on walls that correspond to your personal safe digits.

Map digit order

Digits appear in a fixed map sequence shown in the Salvaged room hints:

Load each map, shine the UV light on marked walls, and record the symbol or digit immediately. Codes are unique per player — copying a friend’s code will not work.

Unlock the safe

Return to Michael Salvaged and enter your digits. You only need four of five correct digits to open the safe — if one symbol is unclear, brute-force the remaining slot by testing combinations. Successful unlock grants the Key badge and 100 Emeralds.

Common mistakes

• Searching for universal codes online — Every account rolls a different sequence. Treat Spotlight safe codes like personal passwords, not promo codes.
• Skipping Pack-a-Punch on the Rune quest — The merchant rejects non-upgraded weapons.
• Forgetting UV attachment — Normal weapons cannot reveal wall symbols.
• Wrong map order — Digit #3 is on The Giant again, not Lighthouse. Follow the numbered hint board in Salvaged.
• Dying before trading — Bank points early; losing a PaP gun to a down wastes significant time.

Rewards and legacy status

Spotlight badges display on your Roblox profile and in-game lobby. Emeralds feed into the attachments shop ordering menu introduced in Crash and Burn. Even if the platform spotlight ends, the quest mechanics remain documented for when Hallows Eve returns.

Players who missed the original window should watch the events hub and updates hub for re-runs. VIP private servers preserve map access for practice.
